Finland: Dwelling permits decreased for 8 months in row

After the two digit growth of building permits in 2016 and 2017, the number of dwellings permitted in 2018 is decreasing sharply in Finland. In October 2018, the dwelling permits were close to 3.000 units. Compared to the boom-year 2017, building permits decreased for the 8th month in row. Based on this data the B+L forecast for the current year leads to a yearly negative growth rate of -1,5%. Nonetheless, construction investments for residential building grew in 2018 due to the high number of permits from the previous years.
