Reporting price indices

Current information on the development of key commodity prices provides both orientation and argumentation support.

We compile various price indices collected on a monthly basis by Destatis, but also by Eurostat, OECD etc. in a report. The data can be made available on a monthly or quarterly basis, depending on the type. The monthly report (PDF) contains a graph and a table with the index values for each producer price index.

Monthly data – Producer price index of industrial products

The price indices of the producer prices of industrial products refer to the index base 2015 = 100. The weighting scheme -- i.e. the weighting of the sub-indices for the calculation of the overall index -- is based on the structures of domestic industrial sales in the base year 2015. The overall index is broken down according to the classification system for production statistics.

Quarterly data – Producer price index for services

The indices measure the average price development for services provided to commercial and private customers in specific sectors. These include transport and logistics, information and communication, professional, scientific and technical services as well as administrative and support services.

In addition to producer prices, consumer prices and wholesale prices are also evaluated, as well as various other indices such as the house price and rental price index. By calculating and forecasting price developments in the various areas of the building supply industry, B+L provides indicators for possible future price developments for selected product ranges.

The monthly report is published 12 times a year and is based on the publication date of the data at Destatis.

Quarterly deliveries are made on the 22nd of the following month after the end of each quarter.
