With its formulated climate protection targets, the European Green Deal will have far-reaching effects on the construction industry and the building stock. The targets and initiatives are being discussed extensively in the industry, but what is behind the black box that is the Green Deal? In which areas can funding programmes be expected and how can sufficient capacities be created for implementation?

Everyone is currently talking about the energy transition. With the new subsidies for the replacement of heating systems and the reduction in VAT in 2020, energy efficiency measures have already become much more important. The war in Ukraine and rising energy prices have further intensified this boom. But what impact do the rising investments of private households in new heating systems and building technology have on the other renovation segments? Is the energy turnaround eating into the currently tight budgets and existing craft capacities in equal measure?

Serial construction (keyword: house types, prefabrication) is already well established in some segments of new construction. Increasingly, serial construction is also being discussed in the context of refurbishment and the first projects in the field of serial façade refurbishment have already been successfully implemented in Germany. In the webinar, we will show what quantities or potentials can be expected in the area of serial construction by 2024 and where bottlenecks and challenges exist.

In many of our projects, we are currently hearing that our customers are optimistic about our forecasts. In this webinar we will look at the current developments on the processing side, on the consumer side and in the supply chain and summarise the potential for a slump. In this context, we will also explain the so-called bullwhip effect, which can already be observed in the supply chain.

In this webinar we will present our current view on the impact of the war in Ukraine on the German construction market and the consequences for Eastern European countries. A large wave of refugees is to be expected, the dimension of which may possibly approach the magnitude of 2015. In the webinar, we will also look at developments in Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and, of course, Ukraine in relation to the supply industry and construction demand.

Since the middle of 2020, we have been experiencing a very strong increase in single-family house construction activity in the rural regions around the metropolises. Strictly speaking, however, this single-family house development can be observed in almost all regions of Germany. Since the material input per single-family house is almost twice as high in many product areas as in a multi-family house, we can expect considerable regional shifts in material sales. Construction is going back to the countryside. We discuss how strong this development could be in this webinar.

In 2021, there was extreme growth in turnover due to price increases. In many areas, volume developments can be observed in the normal range of 2-4% growth, but turnover grows by 30-40% due to price increases. Currently, price normalisations can already be observed again in many areas. This means that in 2022 we will have to assume lower prices and expect sales to decline. In this webinar we will discuss possible impacts and price forecasts.

Even though the effects are already widely discussed in the building supply industry, surveys show that private end consumers pay only limited attention to the topic. However, if personal cost savings or personal health are affected, end consumers react sensitively to the use of subsidies. The Institute of German Business has now asked companies from the real estate sector what importance they attach to the energy efficiency of buildings. Despite the high relevance of the topic in the public discussion, the importance from the real estate companies' point of view is currently extremely low, especially in the areas of office properties and retail properties. We will address this topic and examine which aspects could really be significant for the building supply industry.
