B+L Zukunftsforum 2020

Save the date: B+L Zukunftsforum 2020

on 18 and 19 June 2020

The next B+L Future Forum will take place during two days, on June 18th and 19th, 2020.

18.06. (D/A/CH-Day): Detailed new building and renovation analyses for the D/A/CH region with forecasts until 2024.
19.06. (international): Worldwide construction forecasts until 2024

We have planned the following topics for the ZF2020:

Building development (D/A/CH and world)

Opinions on the future course of the construction industry vary greatly. The strong de-mand for living space in the cities allows project developers to continue planning boldly. On the other hand, early warning indicators call for caution. We will look at the facts together and present and discuss our forecasts up to 2024 country by country:

  • How does the economic slowdown affect construction activity and, above all, WHEN?
  • B+L has been claiming for years that Brexit will hardly have any impact on residential construction. Is that true, and if so, why?
  • Did Austria and Switzerland already reach their construction peaks in 2019?
  • How strong is the impact of labour shortages on completions (also in Eastern Europe)?
  • How much is the trend tilting in Sweden and Finland?
  • Are there countries that can escape the downward trend, e.g. the USA?
  • How will the construction giant China and all of Asia develop until 2024, from B+L's point of view?

Renovation Study 2020: Brand new insights into the growing renovation market again

From 2020, new construction will decline. Which products can benefit from the freed capacities and how strongly can they (again) grow until 2024?

When it comes to digitization, we have to consider the latest regarding the entire value chain, with the advent of Katerra. We will show how the "System Katerra" can also change the European and Asian construction supply market significantly.

  • How quickly does Katerra gain market share in the USA? How quickly could this happen in Europe?
  • How much potential reserves does the entire construction value chain actually offer? 25%, 35% 45%? In any case, enough to get the really big venture capital players like Softbank or Lone Star on the map....
  • Rethinking BIM: Due to the various feedback received after the Future Forum 2019, there are opportunities and risks (transparency can also have disadvantages) that we would like to investigate and discuss with you.
  • AMAZON B2B + B2C: For the Future Forum we forecast the sales development of Amazon and marketplace dealers with construction supply products until 2024. Very impressive!

Does serial building come out of the niche?

The term „serial construction“ has been experiencing a renaissance for several years. We show the current im-portance of serial planning and serial execution and what developments can be ex-pected in the future. Key points here, among others, are:

  • Digitization and automation of prefabrication
  • Processing bottlenecks with bricklayers and in concrete construction
  • Building with room modules
  • Emergence of new approaches such as Katerra (again) or MorgenWonen
