According to Fernando Suárez, president of the Ciudad Juárez chapter of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción, known as CMIC), the sector has gone through several difficult months but is expected to improve in the second half of 2026 as planned development projects move forward in the city. The assessment came on August 5, 2026, after CMIC members met with municipal president Héctor Ortiz Orpinel to raise the difficulties builders have faced while expressing optimism over announced works.
"All builders understood that these have been difficult months for the construction sector, but the figures have been very encouraging in recent months", Suárez said at the meeting. He linked the slowdown to state-level data, noting that according to figures published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), machinery and construction activity has fallen in Chihuahua. "Talking about a decrease of 5 points is, for us, the answer to what is happening in the construction sector", he said.
As part of the same meeting, CMIC asked that affiliated companies be considered for projects the municipal government plans to carry out in the coming months, including an elevated bridge on Boulevard Juan Pablo II and a bridge at the Eje Vial Juan Gabriel and Boulevard Zaragoza junction. Municipal officials have indicated that the Juan Pablo II project, to be built at the intersection with Valle del Sol, is currently in the bidding process and is expected to start within about two months with a duration of roughly seven months, while the bridge on Eje Vial Juan Gabriel is expected to go to tender by the end of September.
