According to the KOF Swiss Economic Institute at ETH Zurich, as reported by Baublatt on 5 August 2026, the Business Situation Indicator for the Swiss private sector rose again in July after having fallen for two consecutive months. The institute stated that the business situation is now more favourable than at the start of 2026, and that the survey results overall indicate the Swiss economy is gaining momentum.

The improvement was broad-based, extending to almost all surveyed sectors, KOF noted. It was especially pronounced in wholesale trade, manufacturing, and financial and insurance services. In construction and in the project engineering sector, however, the upturn was comparatively weaker, a pattern also seen in other services and in retail trade.

Selling-price plans diverged along similar lines. Manufacturing companies more often intend to raise prices than before, while construction firms' price plans point less strongly upward than in previous rounds of the survey. Across all sectors, companies continue to expect average consumer price inflation of 1,2% over the next twelve months, unchanged from the April survey.

The July survey drew responses from around 4.500 companies across manufacturing, construction and the main service sectors, corresponding to a response rate of about 57%.
